Farmland for rent or trade for help with various projects, 2 to 10acres of Class 1, Willamette SL, near Perrydale OR.

Description

2 to 10 acres available for cropping. I have some equipment available for use, including 51 HP Kubota tractor, various implements, and various hand tools.  I also have a water right for 6 acres, but upgrades to the system would be required. My interest has been with establishing  a highly diverse native forest, which I have been creating for approximately 30 years, and propagating native plants. Approximately 140 species are established, many now volunteering in the forest and producing seed. Various facilities for plant propagation are present. I would be interested in a cooperative effort in expanding this production with an interested applicant.

Owner’s Short Term Vision for the Property

I would like to see the land producing healthy products, as well as continue to provide the wildlife habitat currently present. It is important to me the land be managed in a regenerative technique that would increase OM content in the soil, store carbon and improve tilth. This would include rotating crops and some cover cropping of green manures. I would also like to consider the potential for small scale meat production, perhaps 10 or so hogs or a couple or 3 cattle. Additional fencing would be required for this. I would also like to increase the production of PNW native plants by growing out liners and taking cuttings and seed from the native plants present on the property.

What are you doing as a landholder to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your land and in your community?

I would welcome anyone with an appreciation and understanding of ecological function and the wisdom that the health of the soil and habitat comes before any profit taken from the land. I will also require the understanding that detrimental externalities, (i.e. water or soil quality degradation) are to be avoided. I treat everyone with respect and recognize compatible and good folks come in all colors, religions and orientations. I hold no prejudices . I grew up financially disadvantaged in a very diverse neighborhood and recognize all groups of color have been disadvantaged by the white supremacy inherent in our culture since it was first unleashed on the native inhabitants of the continent.
