Winter Green farm is seeking an experienced farmer to help manage our harvest crew.
The role of the co-manager is to work with our other managers in all aspects of harvest and packing on the farm.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of what crops are in the field, their placement, and when they will be ready for harvest.
- Organizing harvests (who is harvesting what, when, and amounts).
- Training and running the crew to ensure optimum safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Keep track of harvest times.
- Field sanitation checks and record keeping (amount of veg. harvested, when and where).
- A deep understanding of the farm’s food safety plan and a commitment to adhere to it.
- The management of processing vegetables and ensuring that the crew is trained to work safely, efficiently, and has the skills to put out a quality product.
- Cooler organizing and distributing product to appropriate markets.
- Keeping accurate records for certification, food safety certification, and for tracking profitability.
- Make certain all supplies and tools are on hand for harvest and processing. If supplies are needed let Chris or Shannon know well in advance
- Provide any necessary feedback or communication to other managers and or owners about crew, crops, field conditions, etc.
- If a harvest is not completed, to know so that it can be completed the next day.
This is a full time position and is currently open . Compentstion includes Hourly wage DOE, farm produce, paid sick leave, paid vacation after one season.
