Young, Motivated Couple Seeking Opportunities for Collaboration, Partnership: 1-20 acres in Marion County

?

Land Seeker Description

My partner, Nicole, and I are highly passionate about farming and have knowledge and experience, but have little access to land and capital. We are seeking land-owners who are interested in partnerships, collaborations, or leases to create an ecological farm/homestead on your property. We are also hoping to find housing accommodations, though not a must, as we feel it is important to live on- or close- to the land that we are working with. Between the two of us, our passions/interests are varied. They include: natural building, permaculture design, social/community support, mushroom/fungi cultivation, medicinal plants/herbs, self-sufficiency (on the individual and community level), food forest/forest gardens, vegetables, grains, berries, fruits, nuts, etc.  We are hoping that through this opportunity, we can create a mutually beneficial relationship with the land-owner, whichever form it may take- we are open for any number of possibilities.

What features of the property are essential?

Essentials would be: land-owner who is open to collaboration and knowledgeable in permaculture or ecological methods or is open-minded/eager to learn.

Additionally, we have not indicated interest in raising any animals for human use because we are strictly vegan, and have ethical objections regarding the exploitation of all animals- humans included.

Describe your farming experience

The two of us have combined farming experience of 9+ yrs, and hold a Permaculture Design Certificate- on our way to earning an Advanced Pemaculture Certification. We were trained on a small organic produce farm for youth, and have pursued continued knowledge and experience through: books, mentorships, experiments/trials, community garden management, and more.

Are you currently farming?

Yes

What are your short term goals for the land

We are looking for the opportunity to partner with the land-owner and the ecosystem in order to gain more experience and practice as well as support ourselves and our goals.
We are seeking to find one or more of the following opportunities:
1) A small piece of land we can call home and steward
2) A moderate sized piece of land that we could use to form a farm business as well as an education center for ecological farming.
3) Other- you tell us what you are interested in doing together

What are your long term goals

Long-term we would like to settle on a farm that is dedicated to ecological methods and permaculture with the intention of regenerating land and community.

Describe your housing needs

Ideally, we would love to be housed on-site, but we are willing to rent nearby housing accommodations if need be and funds allow. There are two adults and two indoor cats.
