Water rights & agricultural water use, easement for parking, power source, more or less level topography, soil type, and being able to decide who can and cannot join me on the property.
I have two years as a farm hand on a 3 acre organic farm in NW Washington state. Tasks included, prepping beds, weeding, seeding, planting, harvesting, washing and packing orders, completing orders, as well as overseeing a small team. I spent two years volunteering on farms (Scrapberry farm, FlyingDogheart Farm, Zenger Farm). I have successfully operated a 25-33 person CSA for the past years as the owner and operator of my own farm.
Short term goals are establishing soil health and getting to know the needs of the local ecosystem (soil, insects, animals) and how I can adjust to meet the needs of my farm. Expanding my business, increasing sales and working collaboratively with other farms to complete large orders.
Expanding business, increasing sales, increasing sales outlets, and expanding use of acreage. I would ideally like to be apart of a local food hub and be working and farming with other farms to create a collective.
I live in Portland, Or. If there is housing available, that's a bonus.
I don't believe I can ensure safety for everyone because it is a farm in a rural area which puts many people at risk. I hope to be upfront about land access (ADA), describe in detail the demographics and politics of the neighbors, and be clear about what positionality I posses (class, race, gender, etc.)
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
