Seeking urban farming in Portland area

Land Seeker Description

I’m a very beginning grower looking for a place to learn in the Portland area. I like to grow herbs and edible flowers and some specialty veggies. I’d like to start cultivating mushrooms and expand my knowledge of medicinal herbs.

Describe your farming experience

I have no formal farm experience. I grew up with family who restored native growth prairie and have several years of gardening knowledge. I have a lot to learn and learn best through experience.

What are your short term goals for the land

Short term goals are beginning to sell at farmers markets and perhaps directly to restaurants or produce markets. Really just expanding my knowledge and making some money to fund the learning process.

What are your long term goals

Long term goals are fostering community with other farmers to work and trade together. Id eventually like to live on a larger piece of land in a more rural setting but I have a lot to learn first.

Describe your housing needs

I don’t need housing but would be open to move.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

I’m open to feedback about my beliefs and my behavior. I try to educate myself to prevent harm and further decolonial politics. I’m committed to ongoing financial reparations and freely sharing any skills and excess resources I have.
