My partner and I have spent the last six years farming and caretaking on other folk’s properties and we’re ready to find a piece of land of our own to pour our hearts and souls into. We’re young farmers enthusiastic about getting started.
Our goal is to be able to have a small organic market garden. We will start small with around 1/2 acre and work our way up, as needed. It would be nice to have up to 3-5 acres of flat pasture. The rest could be woods, scenic, etc.
Our biggest priority is water. We’d like to purchase a property that has year-round water. Water rights will be important if we want to have a livelihood from agriculture.
Ideally, the land would already have a home but we are also open to land only if it has the potential to build.
We’ve primarily been looking in southern Oregon (i.e. Jacksonville) but are open to anywhere if it feels like the right place.
I should mention, one thing we’re not looking for is completely flat, open, ag land with no privacy. We’d also like to avoid places right along main roads and highways. [Like this]
Our dream (which may be unrealistic) would be end-of-the-road privacy with enough flat land for a market garden, meadows, and some type of flowing water. [Like this]
We’re open to adjusting our expectations so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have something available.
Water rights, power, septic
My partner Casey would be the main one leading the initiative and farming. He currently works for a 501c3 that educates and inspires through environmental stewardship. He manages a 10-acre property with a 1/2 acre garden and native plant habitat. All proceeds of the garden are donated to the community.
Prior to working there, Casey and I spent several years living and working on an organic farm that produced honey, meyer lemons, and protea flowers. We also grew a variety of vegetables yearround.
Casey has a degree in business management/marketing and has completed OSU's permaculture course and studied Jean-Martin Fortier's market gardening practice.
Start with a 1/2 acre market garden to establish efficiency and sustainability.
Continue expanding the farming operation to support ourselves as it feels right.
Ideally, we would like a 2+ bedroom house on the property we purchase. Or the ability to build.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
