I am seeking to lease or lease-to-own minimum 1 acre in Eugene and surrounding area (within 30-40 miles of Eugene) for a composting operation. This business would require large trucks with sawdust and wood chips to have access. Highly interested in water and 3 phase electrical, but can operate with out either. Dry, high ground preferred, but open to all types if alterations can be made for functionality. If you have an animal farm with large amounts of stall cleanings, mortalities, butcher wastes this operation could dovetail nicely with yours. I am open to all manner of cooperative ventures. Creative, fun and looking to make a difference through compost.
Heavy equipment access and egress is a must. Not necessarily semi-truck level, but some big push trucks will be coming through with wood chips for the compost.
Wants but not needed; 220v electricity, 3 phase would be grand, water pump with 50 gpm flow, but any water would be nice, the ability to alter land as might be needed for DEQ certification, Ability to build temporary structures, dry, flat ground. The drier the better.
I have worked two years at Wintergreen farm as a harvester and maintenance person. 5 years on a horse ranch as a ranch hand and 3 years as a live in care taker of a family farm trust with cattle, sheep, goats, ducks, chickens and pigs
I would like the business to cover operation costs in the fist year, make money the next year, afford me an income to cut back to part time on my other job in 3 years and at the end of 5 years need to start looking to expand.
In ten years, I would like the business to be making a profit, employing 5-20 people and expanding to other cities.
