Hi, I’m Tom. I’m a husband and a father of two young boys in my mid-thirties. Over the past several years I’ve become more and more passionate about regenerative agriculture practices that use animals to heal our soil for the sake of carbon sequestration, growing nutritious meats and vegetables to grow healthy people (young and wise) who learn to love themselves, others and our planet.
I partner with my wife at our Waldorf-inspired forest garden school in Milwaukie, OR helping to develop our outdoor class room and educational food forest. It’s in the beginning stages now (after relocating), but with the backing of more than ten years experience in early education, we’ve got big dreams.
I am seeking a few acres to get my feet wet in regenerative farming, mostly interested in raising pastured chickens, cows and/or pork for direct local sale. Having never done this before it would be a massive bonus to have some mentorship a long the way if possible. I could work with open fields or forested areas using the animals to create silvopasture and implementing food forestry techniques.
Thanks for checking out my profile, I am exciting to get this rolling!
Will need access to water, but plan to use electric mobile wire to create small paddocks for the pigs and/or cows and chicken tractors for the chickens. Dry storage for feed will be a need as well.
Not much more than backyard gardening and a small flock (6) of backyard chicken that roam free on our 1/8 acre backyard.
Provide quality pasture raised meats for my family and community while building healthy soil.
I see the potential to grow into a fully fledged permaculture operation with animals in a thriving silvopasture.
