Hello. My wife and I are looking for land to relocate our small nursery. We grow hardy perennials for farm direct sales at local farmers’ markets and garden fairs. This has been our primary source of income for over 20 years. It’s a job we both thoroughly enjoy and hope to continue. The landowner of our current nursery location has new plans for his property, so we are needing to relocate. We are looking for approximately one acre +/- in the mid-Willamette Valley. Ideally it would be near Corvallis where we currently live, however we would consider elsewhere in the Mid-Valley. We are not looking to set up retail sales at the property.
Relatively level parcel and reliable water. If land doesn't currently have the following, we would need to be allowed to add temporary ground cloth to grow containerized nursery stock on, small covered area for potting, small enclosed structure for supplies, shade cloth area and deer fence (if needed). We grow all of our perennials outdoors, so we have no need for any greenhouses.
My wife and I both have horticulture degrees. We've been involved the field of horticulture since the early 1980's. Since 1998 we've been growing our own nursery stock for farm direct sales at local farmers' markets and garden fairs.
To continue growing perennials for farm direct sales at local farmers' markets and garden fairs.
Same as short-term.
We currently live in Corvallis so on-site housing is not a necessity if still in the area, but we would be willing to explore possibilities.
We would create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all by treating others with the same kindness and respect we would want for ourselves.
