Seeking to Lease 1-3 Acres for Homestead and Organic Farming in Polk/Marion/Yamhill Counties
We are an interethnic couple who have been farming for six years organically, not certified on a leased land. Our values are to cultivate food organically, preserve our ancestral agricultural traditions, respect labor rights by working in partnership with farmworker unions and to support future farmers that share our values.
Due to the long daily commute to the farm over the years, we are ready to explore a new avenue by living where we farm. We are well established, with two Farmer’s Markets in Portland, a main bulk buyer and CSA.
Water rights, plenty of water
We farm using rise beds, mixing general vegetables and flowers, and dripping irrigation systems. As for fertilizers, we use OMRI certified granulated chicken manure, OMRI certified minerals and OMRI certified limestone if needed depending upon the Ph levels.
We are secure on marketing and selling our produce to current customers. We are looking to lease land to seasonally produce vegetables, and for fruits (strawberries) to secure at least three years (the full life of the plant) for production. We envision organically growing mushrooms and producing medicinal mushroom and herb products (tinctures, lotions, salves etc.).
We want to secure/own land, establish a commercial kitchen and build an agricultural culture center to develop leadership training in youth to preserve tradition and farming practices for future generations.
We are open to a private home, sharing housing space, or bringing our own place (trailer, tents, yurt, adobe home). We have a 6 year old lab mix dog, she is friendly and house trained. Our 16 year boy and 7 year old girl will spend weekly visits with us.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
