Seeking sale of land: 50+ acres in Willamette Valley

?

Land Seeker Description

We are a young Eugene-based couple with degrees in agroecology and several years of organic produce and livestock farm management experience between us, in search of a property to purchase to start our own organic farm in the Willamette Valley.

We are looking for at least 50 acres of mixed pasture and wooded areas, with year round water and irrigation rights, ideally several outbuildings and one or two houses on the property.

We hope to build an integrative farm system involving regenerative livestock practices and produce production.

What features of the property are essential?

House, water rights (or option to obtain rights/exempt irrigation options), year round river/creek, electricity, on-site sewer, on-site private well, outbuildings and agricultural infrastructure, pasture, woodland, topographical variety (hills and flat areas)

Describe your farming experience

Degrees in Agroecology, work and management experience at various organic produce and livestock farms over the past 10 years.

Are you currently farming?

No

What are your short term goals for the land

-Establish rotational livestock enterprise (hogs, cattle, hens etc)
-Establish market and homestead scale produce garden
-Establish beehives for pollination and honey
-Plant trees (fruit, nut, silvopasture)
-Network with local farms and businesses to grow clientele

What are your long term goals

-Scale production up as we establish a niche in the community
-Harvest mature tree crop yields
-Explore native plant and wildlife restoration opportunities with local organizations
-Pursue agrotourism ventures (wedding venues, retreats, farm-to-table events, educational outreach)

Describe your housing needs

Ideally we'd like at least one 2 bedroom 2 bath house on the property; a second home would be great for retiring family. We're open to land without a house as long as it is within budget and zoned for a home.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

First and foremost, we accept and respect people of all backgrounds and experiences. Throughout our lives we have met, worked with, and grown close to people from diverse walks of life. We're passionate about traveling and learning from others and believe everyone has a place within our community.
We've seen how farming and rural living can be a challenging and isolating experience; and the best way to address that is building a strong, diverse and supportive community of neighbors and friends.
We look forward to exploring opportunities for collaboration with local farms, and building a connection with our community through our work.
