Land Seeker Description

I aim to create a sustainable off-grid mushroom cultivation farm, and I am actively seeking land that can facilitate this vision.

The project entails developing a property that embraces sustainability and harmonious coexistence with nature. Here’s a brief overview of the key elements:

1. Sustainable Mushroom Cultivation: The centerpiece of the project is the establishment of a state-of-the-art off-grid mushroom cultivation farm. Through innovative techniques and sustainable practices, we will harness nature’s abundance to cultivate a variety of mushrooms (lions Mane, King Trumpet, and Blue Oyster) while minimizing environmental impact.

2. Permaculture Principles and Agroforestry: We are committed to preserving and expanding the existing forest by incorporating permaculture principles. By designing the land with agroforestry practices, we aim to create a dynamic “food forest” that maximizes vertical utility and produces a diverse array of edible and productive cultivars. This will not only enhance the ecological value of the land but also provide a sustainable source of food and resources.

3. Dispersed Tiny Houses: (ADU’s, Detached Single Dwellings, as local zoning/permits allow) To promote a harmonious living experience with nature, we plan to construct discreet, minimal impact and dispersed Tiny Houses throughout the property. These thoughtfully designed units will offer short-term rentals, providing guests with an immersive experience in symbiotic living with nature utilizing proven off-grid technologies while ensuring their comfort and convenience.

4. Geodesic Greenhouses for Tropical Fruit Cultivation: To further enrich the property’s diversity and productivity, I will include two geodesic greenhouses. These structures will enable year-round cultivation of tropical fruits such as avocados, mangoes, and dragon fruit, expanding the range of offerings and creating a unique environment for visitors and residents alike.

5. Off-Grid and Self-Sufficient: While recognizing the potential need for initial external support during the development phase, our long-term vision is to create a self-sufficient property. We are committed to incorporating proven technologies that enable energy generation, bioremediation practices, natural water filtration techniques, and abundant food production. Our goal is to gradually reduce dependency on external resources and create a self-sustaining ecosystem that minimizes environmental impact while maximizing the property’s potential for long-term sustainability.

I believe in the power of innovation and responsible resource management to create a harmonious and regenerative environment. By embracing self-sufficiency, I aim to showcase the possibilities of sustainable living and inspire others to adopt similar practices.

If you share my passion for self-sufficiency, renewable technologies, and sustainable living, I would be thrilled to explore how your land can become a part of this transformative project. Together, we can create a thriving, off-grid community that harmonizes with nature and fosters a better future for all.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss the potential collaboration further and answer any questions you may have. Please reach out to me at your convenience.

What features of the property are essential?

Water Source, elevation change condusive to integrating hydroelectric system (~500' change), south facing aspect for photo-voltaic panels and greenhouse climate through winter.

Describe your farming experience

4 years (and continuing) research I commenced while in the military covering: Permaculture, Agroforestry, mushroom cultivation, bioremediation, companion planting. 2 years "backyard" Mushroom Cultivation, successful experimentation with multiple medicinal and culinary strains to settle on a selection I've refined for profit, ease of cultivation, and consumer demand. 2 internships on larger scale farms in Charleston, SC and Boulder, CO to gain experience in scaling to larger production and mitigating complications associated with the field.

Are you currently farming?

Yes

What are your short term goals for the land

The goals of my plan are focused on initiating the development of a sustainable off-grid mushroom cultivation farm and laying the foundation for the community. These goals include:

1. Land Acquisition: Identify and acquire land suitable for the project, considering factors such as accessibility, natural resources, and zoning regulations.

2. Farm Infrastructure: Establish the necessary infrastructure for the off-grid mushroom cultivation farm, including growing structures, water filtration systems, composting facilities, and renewable energy sources.

3. Permaculture Implementation: Begin implementing permaculture principles on the land to preserve and expand the existing forest, integrate productive cultivars, and create the foundation for a diverse and sustainable "food forest."

4. Sustainable Systems Integration: Integrate green off-grid technologies such as renewable energy systems, water filtration systems, and composting toilets to establish a self-sufficient and environmentally friendly infrastructure.

6. Community Outreach: Engage with local communities, organizations, and potential stakeholders to raise awareness about the project, build partnerships, and gather feedback to ensure the community's needs and interests are considered.

By focusing on these short-term goals, the plan aims to lay a solid foundation for the sustainable development of the off-grid mushroom cultivation farm, permaculture practices, and the integration of dispersed Tiny Houses to facilitate a harmonious and regenerative living environment.

What are your long term goals

I aim to create a thriving community that showcases the potential of sustainable living, promotes cultural appreciation, and inspires others to adopt following practices.

1. Sustainable Living: Create a self-sufficient ecosystem that maximizes the use of renewable technologies for energy generation, natural water filtration, and bioremediation practices.

2. Tin Design and Construction: Develop plans and initiate the construction of discreet and dispersed Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) that blend harmoniously with the natural surroundings and are designed to accommodate short-term rentals.

3. Regenerative Agriculture: Implement permaculture principles to preserve and expand the existing forest while integrating productive cultivars to create a diverse "food forest" that provides abundant food production and showcases agroforestry practices.

4. Inclusive Community: Foster a safe and welcoming environment that embraces diversity, promotes inclusivity, and encourages collaboration among individuals from diverse backgrounds.

5. Eco-Tourism and Education: Develop a platform for eco-tourism and educational programs that raise awareness about sustainable living, permaculture, and the importance of environmental stewardship.

6. Harmonious Coexistence: Create an exemplar of living symbiotically with nature, where the Tiny Houses harmonize with the surrounding environment and offer short-term rentals for individuals seeking a transformative experience in a sustainable and regenerative setting.

Describe your housing needs

I have 35' Trailer, and solar system for power. Would only require water hook-up, I can install (bury) 55gal barrel French drain system for septic purposes (tested technology where trailer currently is). Ultimately, down the road, would like to construct an Earthship for my family.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

I recognize the importance of inclusivity, respect, and cultural sensitivity. Some measures and practices I intend to implement:

1. Cultivating Diversity and Inclusion: I will actively promote diversity and inclusivity by welcoming individuals from all backgrounds, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, or ability. Everyone will be treated with respect and dignity, fostering a sense of belonging and equality within the community.

2. Community Engagement and Collaboration: I will encourage open dialogue and foster a sense of community participation. By actively listening to the voices and perspectives of community members, I will work collaboratively to create an inclusive space that honors the needs, values, and traditions of diverse individuals.

3. Education and Awareness: I will strive to raise awareness about diversity and cultural appreciation through educational programs, workshops, and community events. This will help promote understanding, reduce biases, and encourage cultural exchange, fostering a sense of unity among community members.

4. Non-Discriminatory Policies: I will establish and enforce non-discriminatory policies that ensure fair and equal treatment for all individuals within the community. This includes prohibiting any form of discrimination, harassment, or exclusion based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, or ability.

5. Accessible and Safe Spaces: I will prioritize the creation of accessible infrastructure and amenities, ensuring that individuals with disabilities can fully participate and enjoy the facilities. Additionally, safety measures will be implemented to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of all community members.

6. Collaboration with Diverse Organizations: I will actively seek partnerships and collaborations with organizations and groups that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. This will allow for a broader range of perspectives and experiences to be integrated into the community's fabric.

7. Ongoing Learning and Improvement: Recognizing that creating a safe and welcoming environment is an ongoing process, I will continuously educate myself and the community on issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. I will actively seek feedback from community members and make necessary adjustments to ensure an inclusive and supportive environment for all.

By actively implementing these measures, I aim to create a farm and community that celebrates diversity, fosters inclusivity, and ensures a safe and welcoming environment for people of all backgrounds.
