For years I, along with my wife have been raising chickens for egg production and Muscovy ducks for meat. Our animals are raised using organic and natural feeds and free range. The birds are primarily raised for personal use however, we do provide eggs for friends and family.
I would really like to expand our capabilities in raising larger flocks to sell our products to a larger market and to diversify into livestock such as sheep and goat.
I also grow and harvest varieties of vegetables in our two gardens using soil regeneration and organic practices. Also, I recently began beekeeping to add pollinators to our area. I seek to expand my growing capabilities in order to provide enough produce to bring to market.
The setback is that I raise our animals on a small property that limits our growth, which is why I am seeking an opportunity to lease to own or perhaps purchase land in the areas of Yamhill and Polk counties. I am a current homeowner but I do not oppose the idea of a housing option depending on the size and location. My ideal scenario would be a lease to own option with mentorship opportunity.
A home site with well, electric and pasture. Water rights preferred of course and access to irrigation. Barn and structures are beneficial however, I can build any necessary structures. A loamy clean soil for good drainage is preferred but I am willing to amend any hard clay soils for crops.
I am a venturer in the field of farming and have obtained much of my experience working on other farms as side gigs. Much experience is related to stall cleaning, horse and cattle feeding, structure building and routine crop maintenance.
Expand my market for meat and eggs and begin to build necessary structures and expand flock sizes.
Make improvements to the land and regenerate soils where necessary for small crops. Install irrigation if needed.
Start a farm stand and enter into farmers markets to sell produce, eggs and duck meat.
Diversify the farm by rotational grazing livestock such as sheep and cattle.
Increase production in crops that have previously sold well and find that niche market based on tribal experience.
Currently own, however open to a housing option if it’s a distance away from my current residence in Willamina.
I welcome customers and those interested in learning any farming practices to come see what I do. God has blessed me with what I have now, when given the opportunity I cannot wait to share with others what else he has in store.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
