Seeking Purchase or Lease (creative solutions welcome!): 5-20 acres within 1.5 hours of Portland

Land Seeker Description

My name is Jordan. My partner (Darnell) and I have a dream to start an organic sustainable farm in the PNW that works with nature, not against it. We have been in the learning phase for the past 1.5 years and have been searching for land for about 4-5 months. As you know, land is not easy to come by and can be quite complicated to purchase. We are looking for a plot within an hour and a half of Portland/Vancouver where we can grow vegetables and berries, ideally with room for alpacas/donkeys for manure production and some chickens.

What features of the property are essential?

Access to water, power and septic. Barn desired, but not required. Partial woodland desired, but not required. We will be working towards certifying the land as organic over the next 5 years.

Describe your farming experience

Using donated yard space in Newberg, OR for a large garden/small farm to grow 30+ varieties of vegetables and herbs. Beginning a part-time apprenticeship in WA.

Are you currently farming?

What are your short term goals for the land

Diversified, direct market family farm. CSA. Improve soil health.

What are your long term goals

Certified organic. Restore native habitat. Help community members in need.

Describe your housing needs

Our housing needs are flexible depending on how much we are spending on land. We currently live in an apartment in Portland, OR.
