I am looking for land to start a small pasture based farming enterprise focusing on pastured poultry, small scale beef and lamb, large market garden, and extensive perennials and fruit/nut orchard. Restorative and low waste, low input, stacked farming management style.
Water rights of course. I may not be doing heavy irrigating but livestock need water. There are no structures that are must haves though a small shop or barn would prove useful. I would rather construct needed buildings and design them simple, light, and multifunctional. A mix of woodland and pasture is ideal. Mostly flat also a plus.
I have a bachelor's degree from the college of Agriculture at Oregon State University. I have owned horses for 15 years and have trained horses and riders professionally for the past 6 years. I raised meat rabbits for two years and harvested and processed them myself and self taught how to tan furs. Experience with quail and laying hens. Some cattle and sheep experience but rusty.
Pastured poultry as primary focus. Secondary focus on pastured laying hens and meat rabbit colony. All pastured animal enterprises to be managed with soil producing, restorative management style. Third focus perennial fruit bushes, and nut and fruit trees. Honey bees with flow hive supers for easy harvesting. But it is main focus is to help support the local bee population.
Ideally I could add a side horse training business. Add a dairy cow or two and turn that into beef and dairy products. Also add lamb so that an ideal grazing rotation can be established.
My intention is to find land that I can park a tiny house or other alternative living situation while I gain experience.
