Hello! My name is Kareena. My husband, Matt, and I are looking for an opportunity to raise cattle, pigs, goats, sheep and chickens on a small scale. Our philosophy aligns with Allan Savory’s holistic management and regenerative practices. We are also interested in growing vegetables and fruits using no-dig principles or permaculture farming. We have two kids who love to be outdoors too!
We’re beginning farmers, with some experience growing vegetables and raising chickens – we plan to take our time developing the various enterprises. We currently live in Salem but would be happy to commute to the land, depending on how close it is to us. We’re also comfortable moving into a tiny home or a trailer.
Thanks for reading our listing!
Water rights and pasture are essential.
Some backyard vegetable gardening, raising goats, raising chickens. Some horseback riding. About a month of WWOOFing experience (in Arkansas and New Mexico). Some construction experience (finishing carpentry). Some tractor experience (Kubota), and dump trucks, at a previous job with ACE Hardware in the bulk materials department.
Our short-term goals are to establish a regenerative, holistically managed farm that provides eggs, honey, and produce through a REKO-ring. We would also like to raise pastured cattle, pigs, sheep or goats, and broilers for meat sales. We intend to sell meat locally through the use of a CSA, or at Farmers Markets. Butchering will be outsourced.
Our long-term goals are to provide job opportunities for people interested in beginning farming/ranching with holistic management practices. Our desire is to aid in carbon sequestering. We aim to inform the public of the necessity of a global adaption to regenerative and holistic management practices for the sustainability of our future. Join in the fun!
Depending on how close the land is to Salem, we may not need housing. Otherwise, we're happy to live in something small, functional, and/or temporary. We could live in a trailer, a tiny home, a yurt, or a wall tent. We could also occupy one room in a house.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
