My name is Nora and I’m about to start my 3rd season farming in the Rogue Valley. I currently work on a farm in Rogue River and am looking for land to purchase with my boyfriend to start my own farm business. I plan on growing mixed vegetables with room for a possible small orchard and berries. We will be living on the farm land so a dwelling is necessary. My long term plan is to have the farm be an educational based farm, where students and field trips could come learn about farming, food, and the environment.
water rights, on-site sewer, electricity, on-site well
I interned at a teaching farm in college, then worked in environmentall education for two years, and before moving to Oregon, worked on a large farm in New Jersey. I moved to the Rogue Valley, appreticed at Runnymede Farm and was subsequently hired as a full time employee and am about to begin my 3rd season there.
My short term goal is to start a small vegetable farm and sell produce at the local farmers markets, as well as an on site farm stand. I could also see the farm growing to be able to run a small CSA, and growing some berries and fruit trees as well.
Long term I would like to transition the farm into a place where student and community groups could come for field trips and events, in order to learn about farming, where our food comes from, caring for the environment, and more.
A small home needed for a couple, with an intention to later build our own home on the property.
I intend to farm in order to serve every single person in my community. The goal of starting an educational based farm is to give opportunity to people of all backgrounds to connect over local produce, eat healthy, fresh food, and give equal education to all about our shared environment.
