Hi my names Sarah and I’m a farmer interested in biodynamic and permaculture farming. My area of expertise is medicinal plants and my long term goal is to start a medicinal plant farm and nursery. Ive been studying herbal medicine since 2008. In 2017 I graduated from the Blue Otter School of Energetic Herbalism. Ive been a practicing herbalist for three years and try as much as possible to grow my own plant medicine. Im also passionate about growing food. I moved to Oregon this year but previously lived in Humboldt County in Northern California where I worked on medicinal plant, flower, and food farms. I have some building experience as well as experience working with livestock ( chickens, ducks, goats, cows). Ive built a lot of urban garden projects as well as smaller scale food and medicine gardens but never had the space or resources to start something large on my own. Im am dedicated worker looking to learn. Thanks for taking the time to read this!
On site sewer and well, and electricity. Certified organic would be a plus but isn't necessary.
Ive been growing my own food for going on 10 years, always planting at least a small food garden where ever I've lived. More recently in the past five years I've spent time working and helping with community medicinal plant gardens and vegetable farms. Ive worked with livestock and have some experience with orchards.
Im looking to start a medicinal plant farm and nursery. Id like to vend at farmers markets as well as sell dried and prepared goods online as well as through a CSA. Id also like to keep bees and hens with the goal of also selling their eggs and honey locally. In the spring and summer I would like to grow ornamental flowers to sell locally. I would like to learn and have space to grow my skills in order to go on and turn my interests in agriculture into a career.
My long term goals would be to learn from a mentor more skills in larger scale farming. Farming and food are what I am passionate about and I would like to learn ways to successfully turn my passion into a career.
I am flexible. Ideally I would like to live on the property I would be tending but currently live in Portland and am able to commute if its not too far of a drive. Im interested in provided housing as an option, and currently am able to pay rent or work out a partial work trade agreement. Also am capable of providing my own housing (trailer, camper, tiny home) if the arrangement is right. Like I said I am flexible, living on the property would be an added bonus.
