I am a trained small farmer, orchardist and horticulturist looking for the above to farm/ care for alone or with my partner/ family. Size of property will dictate my help needs.
I have a long history of running small businesses.
I will manage the orchard for fruit sales and value added sales, depending on the health of the orchard and varieties planted. If there is additional land to farm I will consider a running a vegetable CSA or growing a medicinal herb business focused on difficult to grow herbal medicine from the Chinese medicine pharmacopoeia. (I have a Masters in Chinese Medicine but no longer practice).
I am very excited to find a place to work again, after having lost my 3 acre orchard in a divorce a few years back, and would love to work with the visions of the landowner.
Thanks for reading!
Bee Sun Farm and Garden
Water is essential, along with the opportunity to install my own irrigation if it is not available. Electricity is a wonderful bonus, as well as would be outbuildings.
I have been farming since 2009 on and off, and managed a 3 acre farm with poultry, berries, an orchard, annual vegetables and perennial herbs from 2009-2013. Since then I have urban farmed at my current location (1/3 acre)-- poultry, orchard, berries, and vegetables, and have been teaching urban farming on a 1 acre plot at a public school campus. I have also been co-farming a one acre plot area on a 7 acre larger plot, of annual vegetables for the last year.
Short term, I would love to walk into an already planted orchard or berry farm, or vegetable farm with season extenders, and take up where the last grower left off, hoping to learn from the past grower. After I learn the land I will move toward more growth.
Long term I would like to manage an orchard for years, install or manage berry crops, if possible I would consider a CSA (small) an develop difficult to raise Chinese medicinal herbs, once everything else is set, if at all. All depends on the length of the lease and size and opportunities offered by the land. If the property is large enough, I would like to eventually live on the property and bring on poultry. I would consider educational opportunities in the far future if that were appropriate for the land.
I own a home but would love to move near the property or onto it if that were ever an option.
