Hi there! We are Zach and Emma Kohlstrom. We are 30 years old and have a deep passion for farming and want to plant lifelong roots in the PNW. We both come from long lines of family farming on the East Coast. We have known each other since we were 14 years old and have been friends for many years before getting married in 2019. Zach was an apprentice on several farms after high school in his early adulthood. Emma went to business school and studied sustainable agriculture. We began dating in 2017 and have traveled around different farms in the Southwest learning different trades. In 2020, Emma and Zach worked in a valley of New Mexico and successfully managed a small family farm through COVID before we came to the PNW for its rich soils, beautiful farm land, and close community. We are no stranger to the extremely work and devotion it takes to not only have a flourishing farm, but a profitable one as well. We are critical thinkers as well as hard workers with generations of experience. Zach specializes in irrigation ranging from commercial agricultural to traditional techniques like acequias. Emma has run several profitable businesses including farm to table restaurants, managed farms through many stages and believes in community outreach and farm to table practices. We have a son that we would love to raise the same way we were away from the city and on a farm. We will consider business partnerships with the right family or individual. Very confident and comfortable with a farm that was mostly vegetable or established livestock for fiber/meat on a scale of 5-15 acres. We won’t shy away from the opportunity for additional space. Water rights or well access would be preferred as well as any soil testing would be considered an excellent plus.
Housing of 2 bedrooms. Can possibly make a 1 bedroom work. Doesn’t have to be fancy and we are willing to work on the right house as well.
Water rights or established well
We have extensive farming experience combined and would easily be able to adopt a profiting farm and keep it as such.
We are interested in starting or continuing a 5-15 acres sustainable and organic farm that has water access or water rights already in use. We would be growing mostly vegetables and herbs would try to grow year round in different scales. open to smaller livestock and some chickens if they are already present on the land. Ideally we would be able to become USDA certified organic and sell to local farmers markets and restaurants as well as developing a CSA program.
Build an organic and sustainable farm business model that would grow a new generation of farmers that respect and know the land.
Interested in most housing offers as well as they are in decent condition. Open to helping fix up and maintain the household as well as the landscaping.
As farmers, we will openly pass down our traditions that benefit and grow our community for the better. We will respect our land as well as everyone who enters it with good intention.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
