I’m a new farmer looking for a small acreage to start an organic regenerative market garden in Sisters, Oregon. I’m interested in growing all kinds of vegetables and legumes, and I’d be very excited to have an orchard as well. I’m also open to other specialties like bees and grapes in addition to the market garden. I’d prefer to start small, and grow bigger over time so I am open to larger acreage, if available. One reason I’d prefer to start small is because my partner and I both have part-time engineering jobs (remote). We are currently “roaming” but have family in Sisters and my partner works for a Sisters-based company so we are very interested in living in the area. I’d prefer land that has been previously farmed organic but would consider land that’s been farmed conventionally. In the future, I would consider adding livestock such as cattle or goats. I have a small amount of experience volunteering (WWOOFing) on market-garden farms in France and Washington state.
Water and healthy soil.
I have volunteered (WWOOFed) on a 30+ acre vineyard and a 2 acre market garden with a large acreage of pasture (sheep and goats) in Southern France. I have volunteered at a 5 acre market garden near to Bellingham, Washington.
A small market garden and possibly some value-added products such as sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, or other ferments.
A self-sufficient farmstead with a large market garden, and a small dairy operation.
Flexible - I have a camper that I can use as housing, or I would be open to a permanent structure.
