I am looking for land for stewardship, to operate a nursery business, for vegetable and other crop farming, and for animal sanctuary. I am an older woman grateful to pass on land and opportunity to younger farm partners as relationships are established and time dictates.
Water rights, pasture, woodland, stream, spring. Hook up to municipal services as much as possible: Wi-Fi, road maintenance, fire service, electricity, sewage. Healthcare and emergency services within reasonable distance including veterinary.
Experience includes many years of urban and semi-rural food and farm systems production including nursery management. Organic farmer training at the Rural Development Center in Salinas, California. Farmers market and business development training for California. Composting and water management. Arboriculture and pruning.
To establish systems and routines for stewardship and animal care over the first five years; establish the nursery, determine viable products and markets.
Within 10 years, to have a working operation with younger partners for succession.
Small house with ability to add on for passive solar gain and work space adjoining the house; extra bedroom, expansive kitchen, cellar.
Open communication about equity, inclusion and social justice with everyone in my circles and especially on the farm, to create an environment of respect, trust and care. Care of people and animals is wedded to care of the land and protection of the earth.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
