Seeking lease-to-own: 10 acres in Lane County

Land Seeker Description

I moved to Oregon a few years ago and am looking to get more connected to this beautiful land. I’ve been dreaming of owning a farm for my whole life and finally have enough resources to get started. I’ve studied permaculture design and have been backyard gardening for years, and now I just need some real on-the-job farm experience. I’m especially eager to keep bees! I recently learned it has been a tradition in my family for generations. I’m also excited to start growing chestnut trees, as I originally came out to Oregon to help create a chestnut-promoting nonprofit up in Portland. We’ve already distributed over 8,000 chestnut saplings in the area! Please reach out or visit if you’re interested in getting some, even if you don’t mean to connect about land leasing/sales.

What features of the property are essential?

Water rights and zoning rights to build a home if one isn't already present.

Describe your farming experience

I have my permaculture design certificate and have been backyard gardening since a young age. I also have a college minor in ecology.

Are you currently farming?

What are your short term goals for the land

Sheep husbandry ideally for meat, fiber and dairy. Bee husbandry for honey. Herb and vegetable production.

What are your long term goals

Chestnut and fruit tree orchard and associated specialty products.

Describe your housing needs

I would like to purchase housing along with the land but am flexible as well.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

I will always keep an open mind and heart to members of my community both nearby and on a global scale. I want to help people rediscover their connection to the land and natural rhythms of life.
