Seeking Lease/Partnership to help develop sustainable, organic practices on your land and to split the harvest

Land Seeker Description

Hello, my name is Katie and together with my boyfriend Sky, we have made it our lifetime mission to live sustainably and share a minimalist lifestyle with goals to help our beautiful planet in any way that we know how. We are both honest, hardworking, and kindhearted souls who envision a world where everyone can live harmoniously amongst the trees and regenerative farmland. We strive to go back to our roots: to build natural dwellings with less resources than conventional homes, to live off grid with renewable energy sources, to cultivate the rich soil, to grow organic fruits, vegetables, medicinal herbs (including CBD and derivatives), mushrooms, and native species to create a bountiful habitat for beneficial pollinators.

At the end of year 2020, I began the journey to purchase a 12 acre property in the high desert of southern Oregon. However, due to unforeseen events, we currently are without the funds to develop our organic farm/homestead on the raw land (treed with ponderosa pine, juniper, sagebrush, and a few mountain mahogany). Our plan was to start our aforementioned dream, however that objective has been postponed and we are taking a detour.

Thus, we are in search of unused farm land to lease/split or form a partnership, at least for this year and possibly also in the future. Above all, we would like to develop relationships with more people who have similar visions as us, so we can all be inspired and feel hopeful that there are others who are actively trying to live healthfully and to conserve natural resources and our ecosystems. We are also open to ideas or shared usage of our 12 acre property.

Our experience: Katie has been gardening and foraging for 5+ years, with knowledge of a range of edible and medicinal plants and mushrooms. Previously, I have co-operated an organically grown medicinal CBD/THC garden, built greenhouses, cultivated soil to feed microorganisms by making nutritional compost teas, and did various amounts of manual labor to successfully manage the operation. I have done extensive research about living off grid and have accumulated many ideas to implement in a homestead setting. Sky has rebuilt vehicles from the inside out, showcasing his mechanical skills and craft for fine details and workmanship. He self-built a Sprinter van, outfitted with a solar energy system, an onboard heating system, fresh and gray water plumbing, and building of the interior carpentry. He assisted in the growing of the aforementioned garden that I grew, learning very rapidly how to run a farm of that scale. Together we have a lot of useful knowledge and strengths, and are excited to continually learn and grow, with our goals of helpings others.

Thank you so much for reading and we hope to connect with other likeminded individuals.

What features of the property are essential?

Are you currently farming?

What are your short term goals for the land

To help the landowner have a sustainable farm or garden, helping us both to have access to healthy organically grown food and earning additional income. We can also help raise animals.
Implement regenerative practices and ensure a healthy ecosystem for wildlife, including native species and beneficial pollinators.

What are your long term goals

Same as short term, but for longer, because this whole thing is about sustainability. And as time goes on, more ideas can be built upon.

Describe your housing needs

We live sustainably in our van, so we do not require housing. Access to drinking water and an outhouse or composting toilet is all we would need.
