Looking to help and learn in a rural setting. My husband and I grew up in the country, and we want that for our kindergarten aged daughter. He was raised on a farm in Iowa, I around horses in the Northwest. We are currently both professionals in Portland. He teaches 5th grade, and I am a patternmaker for a clothing company. We are both hard workers and lifelong learners. I keep a veggie garden at our home, but we are green when it comes to farming.
My hope is to find a place where we could rent/lease, and work on an existing farm to learn the ropes. My first choice would be the Corbett area so I could send my daughter to school there.
We would need access to water, septic or sewer, and electricity.
I am inexperienced when it comes to farming. I am hoping to change gears and have a second act in my career. I have been learning from my garden and books for several years, but nothing at scale.
My short term plan to is to be mentored on skills and know-how required to run a farm business.
My long term goal to contribute to food stability, sustainability, and carbon capture in the soil. With a background in apparel, I am also interested in fiber flax and wool production.
We are a family of three with a dog. We would like to live on or near the farm.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
