Seeking Lease or Lease-to-Own 2-10 acres in Multnomah, Washington or Clackamas County

Land Seeker Description

The two of us are in a shared working and loving relationship and are dreaming of a lifetime together in farming. It is our hope that we can find a place to expand our vision for a future of abundance and giving back to the land we steward.

We’ve been farming two properties for the last 3 years, however, one of the properties sold and we are looking for a new place to continue and grow our farming journey together. We grow a wide range of veggies and have a small flock of laying hens for Farmers Markets, CSA and expanding restaurant offerings. We aren’t certified organic but follow organic practices and incorporate regenerative agricultural practices, ferment our own soil inoculants and plant food. In addition to our current practices we emphasize learning to continually improve the sustainability of our farming practices for the land we are on and for ourselves. We are hoping to find at least 2-5 acres if not 5-10 to grow a wide diversity of crops on. We have hoop houses and a greenhouse we would like to be able to set up on the property as well.

What features of the property are essential?

Active Water Rights
Electricity
Ideally relatively flat well drained soil

Describe your farming experience

We’ve both worked on a number of small vegetable farms, mainly using organic practices. We have combined experience of running our own farms and farm crews for 11 years. We are Farmers Market and CSA growers, and are beginning to sell to restaurants. We grow a wide variety of vegetable crops year round.

Are you currently farming?

Yes

What are your short term goals for the land

Continue our vegetable growing operation, expanding our offerings through Farmers Market, CSA and Restaurant sales.

What are your long term goals

We dream of eventually owning our own property to farm on. A place where we could have a small fruit orchard and incorporate small livestock grazing. However if we were to find the right place and relationship with the landowner that felt like home we’d consider staying long term.

Describe your housing needs

A house for rent would be ideal or a spot to park a trailer with water and electricity hookups. Housing on the property would not be absolutely necessary depending on the location of the property.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

We are accepting of all people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences and seek to build community, respect and trust around shared food and knowledge.
