Seeking Lease (or creative solution): 1-2 Acres in Benton/Linn County

?

Land Seeker Description

Hello!

I am looking to start my own small-scale, organic farm. I’m specifically interested in leasing or lease-to-own 1-2 acres of land in or around Benton County.

My focus will be on growing organic vegetables and flowers, with an emphasis on sustainability and ecological farming practices. I am committed to building a farm that prioritizes soil health, biodiversity, and community support. Ideally, I’m looking for land with access to water though I am open to all options.

I have experience growing on a small-scale, but I am eager to expand my knowledge and skills further. I’m hoping to find a property where I can build my vision over time, and I’m open to creative agreements.

I’m looking for a space where I can continue to grow, both as a farmer and a person, and I would love to connect with anyone who might have land that fits my needs.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or think there might be an opportunity that fits!

What features of the property are essential?

Water rights

Describe your farming experience

I have experience working on a seed farm and have a degree in Horticulture, which has given me a solid foundation in organic farming practices. My experience includes small-scale farming across a variety of crops, including grains, vegetables, and flowers.

Are you currently farming?

No

What are your short term goals for the land

Initially, I would like to grow enough produce to sell locally through farmers' markets or direct sales. I would also like to start building relationships with local food banks and community organizations to donate surplus produce or collaborate on educational initiatives about sustainable farming practices.

What are your long term goals

My primary focus will be building a sustainable farm that is integrated in the local food system. I plan to expand my reach by selling directly to consumers through farmers' markets, direct sales, and (hopefully) local restaurants.
In addition to farming, I want to make the farm a hub for community engagement and education. I would like to work with local seed libraries to promote seed saving and sustainable growing practices, helping to increase access to (free) heirloom seeds. I want the farm to be a space for learning, offering farm tours, workshops, and hands-on educational experiences focused on sustainable farming, soil health, and growing organic food. Over time, I envision creating a gathering place for the community to come together around shared values of environmental stewardship, food sovereignty, and local food production.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

I want this farm to be a place where everyone is respected, valued, and where we are committed to giving back to the community, sharing what we grow, and creating a space where people can learn, grow, and connect.
