I am looking for new opportunities to farm! I am currently located in Yamhill County, but would be interested in relocating for the right opportunity. I intend to farm with the goal of building soil health and biodiversity, and have a proven track record of improving the land with management-intensive grazing. I am very interested in integrating livestock grazing with fruit/ nut trees and grapes vines. I’d also like to do my part in re-establishing native oak trees. I’d be happy to share my resume and talk in depth about my experience. I am available by phone/ text at 541-252-2322, or email at sean.m.johnson2@gmail.com.
Water would be a plus, but not necessary to get started.
13+ years experience working on a diversity of farms and ranches, both big and small. Extensive experience with livestock and management intensive grazing. Some valuable experience with market gardens and vineyards. I'd be happy to share my resume.
Begin with rotational grazing with cattle, sheep, and/ or goats, depending on what is appropriate for the ground using electric fencing. Build fences and infrastructure (mainly water), plant trees/ vines if long-term lease. Establish direct-to-consumer and/ or wholesale markets. Possibly add poultry, hogs, and market garden/ berry production, farm store/ agritourism opportunities depending on the site and its location.
Continue building a diverse ag and biological system. If site is suitable, possibly establish a micro-dairy, commercial kitchen, and/ or farm stay. Re-establish oaks/ native plants in large open pasture for shade and biodiversity.
Not necessary but would be a plus if adequate housing was available!
I intend to treat everyone with respect and without judgement.
