Seeking Lease/Lease-to-Own Grazing Ground 40+ acres, Oregon

?

Land Seeker Description

I was raised on a small acreage farm in rural Oregon.  My family raised bottle calves for personal consumption and direct sales.  We’ve been known to raise bummer lambs and pigs too.  My farming experiences with my grandpa are vast including, growing and harvesting crops, raising livestock, bailing hay, cultivating and irrigating feed corn, and milking sheep and cows.  Being exposed to agriculture at a young age has driven me to pursue farming for a living.

Over the past four years, I have leased my parents small acreage and have implemented regenerative ranching practices.  Raising grass fed beef and lamb for direct market sales has been rewarding.  I enjoy sharing my products with customers directly, and feel personal pride when my customers share their appreciation for my products. I currently have 10 bred ewes that will lamb this spring, 6 heifers, 1 nurse cow, 6 steers, and 7 claves.  I’m wanting to find a larger property to grow my existing herd and business while practicing good animal husbandry and using regenerative practices to increase soil fertility.

My contact number is 503-930-8454

Describe your farming experience

I grew up on a small family farm and spent time helping my extended family's larger farming operations. In high school and college, I sought out agriculture related jobs to expand my knowledge and skills in farming. After college, I grew my own regenerative ranching business by raising beef and lamb for direct sales.

Are you currently farming?

Yes

What are your short term goals for the land

My short term business goals are to find a more suitable size property. I need to increase my products and customer base. I want to develop an evolving system to increase animal gains and benefit the land yield potential. The ability to fulfil my dream of being a successful farmer while providing a quality product for customer and enriching the land is my goal.

What are your long term goals

I want to own and operate a successful regenerative ranch operation that would sustain a living.

Describe your housing needs

I currently live with my parents so as long as the property location was close, I wouldn't have any housing needs. If the property was too far away to commute, I would need to consider other options.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

Maintaining a well kept barnyard and well cared for livestock will ensure a welcoming environment. Well kept fences help keep animals safe. Being environmentally conscience will safeguard water and soil health for future use.
