Seeking Lease, Lease to Own, Creative Solution, Community or Partnership for Small Acreage in Oregon or Washington

Land Seeker Description

Hello there!

I am an medicinal herb farmer (not medical marijuana) of perennial and annual plants, as well as culinary herbs.   I also have a passion for growing storage vegetables, mushrooms, and fruit.  I have a background in permaculture, biodynamic farming, reparian natives for fiber, food, and medicine, and growing nursery stock to pass on as many plants to my community.  I have been farming for 12 years, but have spent the last 2 years working on smaller land projects in and around Portland Oregon.

I use the products I grow to make my own medicinal herb product line of tinctures, teas, salves, lotions, soaps, and salts.  My desire to farm comes with the importance for me to grow and gather as many of the plants in my products as possible, and to give back to my community–through donating fresh and dried plants, along with nursery stock and seed to as many folks as possible.

Along with my work as a farmer, I am also a healer and teacher, and bring these all together in order to give as much back to the land and people as possible. I am seeking a new (long term) place to grow, and have a greenhouse.  I hope to grow a little less than a 1/4 of an acre to start.  I desire to focus on greenhouse plants as well, and wish to produce many annual and perennial herbs in nursery stock as well.  I am willing to work with other farmers to build more diversity along the edges of their farm–medicinal plants are fantastic pollinators–so I have already worked with several land projects in bringing in more pollinator plants and would love to continue this work as well.

Please reach out if this sounds interesting.  Thanks for reading.

What features of the property are essential?

A established greenhouse would be lovely, but not necessary.

Describe your farming experience

I began farming as an apprentice to several herb farms and did that for 3 years before beginning my own farm, which I tended to 2 years. I also shared a farm project with several other folks where we grew vegetables, herbs, and mushrooms and did that for 2 years. I then had my own farm business at Headwaters Incubator Program for 5 years.
I have studied and practiced permaculture, biodynamic farming, biointensive farming, and organic (non-certified).
