I’m currently an aquaculture scientist with a history of working on fish farms. I also work as part of a coalition of fish farmers in the state of Oregon, and am searching for land to begin my own aquaculture farm. It’s a little different from what most agriculture looks like, and would require specific infrastructure for which I’m seeking funding. I worked in the sturgeon and catfish industry in California for a while, and think Oregon is a great place to jumpstart its aquaculture sector.
Water rights, well, pond, willingness for excavation of ponds via tractor to add space for fish.
I worked full-time for a year in the commercial aquaculture sector in California, producing sturgeon, bass, carp, and catfish. Since then, I've worked nationally and internationally in aquaculture extension, serving small and large farmers. I also have a master's degree in agriculture, with a specialty in aquaculture engineering and management.
I would like to create a viable crop of a species that grows and sells well in Oregon, working out the kinks of production in Oregon's specific economy and climate.
I would establish a successful farm that creates jobs and introduces more Oregonians to the benefits of aquaculture and domestic seafood.
I would ideally live at home and commute, but it would be great to have a place to stay on farm a couple nights per week.
My whole experience in the aquaculture sector has exposed me to people of various walks of life, nationally and internationally. All are welcome to work, visit, or work at the farm. I also intend to do significant community demonstration and outreach for the farm.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
