My name is Jen and I own Juniper Layne Farm, a small, diversified vegetable market garden in Happy Valley. I am currently growing on 1/4 acre on my parents property. The farm is Certified Naturally Grown as of spring 2020. I am able to continue growing in my current location, but not able to expand growing capacity beyond the current 1/4 acre. I am looking to get to 1.5-2 acres of vegetable production in the next 2-4 years. As the farm business continue to grow, my ultimate goal is to own land. I am looking for a long term lease arrangement or a lease to buy option. Would also like to find land with housing.
water rights, well, barn or storage structures, space for putting in wash/pack station and cold storage room on site.
I am in my second year of farming. I started Juniper Layne Farm in 2019. I gained some on farm experience during the summer of 2018, but otherwise the bulk of my farming education has come from my own farm, WSU/OSU Beginning Farmer classes, books, podcast, workshops, conferences.
Over the next 5 years I want to scale my production incrementally from the current 1/4 acre to 1.5 acres. And if possible I would like to be able to purchase land in the next 5 years or secure a lease to buy option. I don't want to have to move my farm business too many times. I plan to continue selling at farmers markets, possibly add a traditional CSA program. With this growth of my farm business will likely include hiring staff in the next few years.
Land ownership is the main long-term goal. I would like to ultimately be at 1-2 acres vegetable production. I would like to have a property that is accessible to people to be able to host on-farm events.
Ideally, I need to find land with housing or the option to add housing on site or find housing nearby that is affordable.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
