Seeking Lease – Housing & .5+ acre near Sandy, OR

?

Land Seeker Description

I’m Adam.  I work at a James Beard awarded restaurant, have farmed in both urban and rural areas, and completed a Master of Agricultural Sciences with Colorado State University.  I am very passionate about native food cultivation, food processing and marketing.  I am looking to lease .5acre – 2acres for native and introduced vegetable crops.  I am interested in pairing with a landowner who is interested in agritourism as I plan to host seasonal native food dinners for about 20-35 guests.

What features of the property are essential?

Water rights; electricity; sewage, shed for tools; wood stove (or other heating mechanism);

Describe your farming experience

I created a network of urban microfarms, utilizing USDA grant funds to start and maintain edible gardens in low-income communities for free food distribution, garden-based nutrition education, and cooking classes. I worked in this role for about 2 years. Next, I founded and managed a 2-acre vegetable farm and indoor mushroom operation in Southern Oregon. This lasted about 2 years. Now, I live in Portland, where I have been honing my cooking skills in professional kitchens and planning for next steps!

Are you currently farming?

No

What are your short term goals for the land

Cultivate native and introduced food crops utilizing organic and regenerative applications. Improve or maintain biological, chemical and structural soil health + fertility. Regularly host dinners which highlight PNW native ingredients. Donate native food to local reservation communities.

In the short term, I am looking for space to do native food cultivation, food processing and marketing research, honing my skills and vision while giving back to local native communities.

What are your long term goals

Buy private property. Build a commercial kitchen and dining area.

Describe your housing needs

Private living space; Personal Kitchen; Dog Friendly (dog is very friendly and does not bark);

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

I am non-judgemental and drama free. I understand the importance of listening and I am happy to learn new perspectives. All ages, races, religions, ethnicities, political beliefs, etc. are okay with me!
