Seeking Lease for Trade or Partnership: 5+ acres

Land Seeker Description

We are a family of 5. Our end goal is to have a self funded, regenerative agriculture farm. We really want to raise our kids on a farm and teach them hard work that benefits our health, our animals’ health, and the health of our earth. We would like to set ourselves up for success by learning on the job until we can make our dream of our own farm come true. We are excited to bring my gardening, chicken raising, and limited farming experience; as well as my husband’s experience with opening small businesses and running large teams. We can’t wait to bring our knowledge of retail, marketing, and business management from the ground up to help make our farm be more successful so it can pay for itself.

What features of the property are essential?

Water rights, on-site well, power, infrastructure, pasture.

Describe your farming experience

I have been keeping 8 backyard chickens, as well as gardening 550 sq. ft., for the past 2 years going in to my 3rd. I am also closing in on a full year working at a local farm in the hoop houses (4). Overseeing garden maintenance (ie: weeding, bed prep, planting, irrigation, composting, mulching, fertilizing, covering, and pest prevention/pressure), harvesting, and then moving the produce in to the market. On the market side, I am in charge of the back-stock and market floor produce. Which includes: labeling, organizing cooler, waste management, staging, stocking, and inventory.  I make sure to keep produce fresh for our community. I am also a member of a team of a re-wilding project bringing nature and perennials back to the land to create a more "wild" and natural landscape. It's been fun to be able to work on the produce side of things as well as helping with the fruition of a new vision for the farm.

What are your short term goals for the land

Regenerative Agriculture practices to work with the animals and the land for the betterment of the earth, our health and our animal's health. Providing fresh fruit, veg, eggs, cut flowers, and herbs for Farmer's Market, CSA, Farm Stand, and possible traveling Farm Stand.

What are your long term goals

Perennial Tea Garden with a farm to cup Tea shop, letting the community customize their own tea blends. We would also have a farm stand with all of our fresh fruits and veg. As well as cut flowers.

Describe your housing needs

2-3+ bedrooms/1+ bath or spot for us to park an RV.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

I want to run a farm in the healthiest, natural ways possible. I believe that if we nurture and steward the land well, it will provide for us. The love that I have for the land and for all of the plant life and animal life is contagious. I want to share it and show everyone the beauty in it. I want to welcome people to my farm with the hopes of them leaving with a renewed love of the land, as well as more understanding of how important it is to steward our earth well.
