Seeking Lease: 3-4 acres in Lane County

?

Land Seeker Description

Who we are
Two experienced farmers looking to start a new perennial plant greenhouse operation in Lane County! We have over 20 years combined experience in perennial orchard and vineyard crops. We are responsible to both the land and our neighbors.

What we want to grow
Grapevine and fruit tree rootstock, scions, and complete plants. Hazelnut starts to come eventually as well as ornamental plants. We are NOT hemp or pot farmers!!

What we need
– We will be LOW water users, but in the summer months will need access to irrigation water. We are asking that the water source be established, as this cost is not something we are looking at sharing. We will have equipment to run lines to a pond or river if need be!
– 3-4 acres of relatively flat ground to set up industrial size greenhouse buildings. We will invest in/improve the land we use with semi-permanent greenhouses as well as shade structures at our expense.
– Access to 240 volt electricity – we are willing to invest in the development of this service as long as the cost is not unreasonable. Basically we aren’t looking to pay to get electrical lines run from over 1/2 mile away. Electricity would need to be very close to the building site(s).
– Eventual space/permission to operate a retail storefront to sell our plants

What features of the property are essential?

Water rights, electric, flat ground

Describe your farming experience

Over 20 years combined experience between both farmers. We are experienced in orchard crops, vineyards, and commercial nursery environments

Are you currently farming?

Yes

What are your short term goals for the land

Establish a perennial nursery operation for the growth of grapevine, hazelnut, fruit tree, and perennial ornamental nursery stock.

What are your long term goals

Continue the short-term plans and open a retail storefront to provide direct-to-consumer sales.

Describe your housing needs

We do not need housing. We may want a space for an RV to sit for an on-site option to spend a night if work days go late!

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

We are dedicated to equality and equity, especially within the farming community. We have love and respect for all walks of life and will absolutely not tolerate discrimination of any form.
