Seeking Lease: 20-40 acres in Douglas, Lane, Linn, or Benton Counties

Land Seeker Description

New plant nursery venture seeking leased land. We are experienced permanent crop farmers, are financially stable, and very easy to get along with. This means we pay bills on time, don’t have ridiculous egos, and know what we’re doing.

The perfect location will have well drained soil, access to year-round water rights, and located in northern Douglas county (Sutherlin area). We will also entertain South Linn and South Benton counties. Lane county is our last choice, but we are willing to entertain locations if everything fits well.

We realize that our wish list below is a tall order, but we are prepared to pay for excellent ground!

What features of the property are essential?

Water rights are a must! We do not have a large volume demand, but will need a steady and reliable supply when the rains stop falling.

Our nursery stock must be planted in well-drained soil. The soil profile cannot be shallow, but doesn't have to be extremely deep either.

We are a conventional farming outfit. We cannot accept land that is required to be organic, and will not set up shop on a piece of land with organic neighbors (they were there first, it's not our place to displace them)

Lastly, we do need an equipment barn/storage building - something to keep the rain off of equipment and keep it hidden from prying eyes looking to make a quick buck.

Describe your farming experience

Experience in orchards, vineyards, and other permanent and semi-permanent crops. Some row crop experience, and some grass seed experience. ODA licensed.

What are your long term goals

No housing needs

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

We are committed to being 100% responsible with all farming practices. This includes pesticide applications, controlling/eliminating water runoff, controlling soil erosion, and being mindful of all neighboring crops and animals.
