I am looking to lease 15-20 acres to have 10 head of cattle from November – May annually.
I practice holistic management and low impact on land. My cattle are small framed and are managed in a way that does not degrade the land they are on. My current lease is too steep to have cattle on during the winter.
My only requirement for the land is that there is water access. Preference for already fenced (at least 5 strand barbed wire). If there is a natural water source, cattle will be fenced out and will utilize a pump to draw from it if water rights allow.
Ideally I would like to find someone who wants to make infrastructure and ecological improvements to their land, willing to lease for cheap for free in exchange for my labor. Including fencing, water infrastructure, timber management or marketing if desired, habitat restoration etc. I am open minded and eager to connect!
Water access
Ideally fenced but willing to build fence
Ideally at least one wind break structure willing to build as well
One season on a mixed organic vegetable farm in Estacada, 1.5 years on diverse livestock operation. Graduate of RW Ranching Program and ongoing consultation.
To house my cattle during the winter months while improving land and raising the value of land through infrastructure projects.
Same as my short term goals. As my herd grows, I may seek to find a bigger lease or split between a few leases. My priority will always be land improvement, not degradation.
No need for housing
My goal is create a supportive space for all, especially new farmers, disenfranchised and historically exploited folks.
