Seeking land with home to purchase or lease- Lane County

Land Seeker Description

My husband and I (along with two farm dogs) are looking for a long term lease, lease to own or to purchase land with a home in South or South/East Lane County near Eugene. We are both fully employed, in our late 30’s with a wealth of practical and real world skills. We are looking to put down roots where our deep reverence for land, local food systems and stewardship can be put to good use.

I have been farming sustainably for over 20 years, my official training was in organic and biodynamic agriculture (Emerson College UK, 2009). My focus has been specifically in growing specialty produce in farm direct operations for sales at farmers markets, to restaurants and for CSA programs. I have worked in growing, sales, as well as developing and managing programs for a wide variety of organic farms on both small and large scale operations. I also owned and operated my own vegetable farm for 5 years. Here in Eugene I currently manage 15 acres of certified organic and biodynamic orchards, berry and vegetable gardens with just over a 1/4 acres of that in year round greenhouse production. This past year I was lucky to work directly with Food For Lane County donating all surplus vegetables and fruit.

My husband works for the University of Oregon, has past experience as a carpenter and is an accomplished builder and handy man.

We would like to stay in Lane County and keep our current jobs but would like to find a place where our skills could be used to improve a property with the goal of farming it in an ecologically sound way. I am most passionate about building equitable and secure food systems for the benefit of my community.

If you know of any land that could use a mindful and experienced agricultural tenant or steward to care for and improve it over time, please contact me.
