Hi my name is Ben, I’m 42 and looking to begin farming for myself. I have a life time of experience doing manual labor and odd jobs based around the Willamette valley farming industry. I’ve spent the last 3 years working with two new farms; one reclaiming land for homesteading, the other a horse stable that had been long neglected. I have a degree in diesel mechanics and an understudy in agroforestry and land management. I am a single dad of an amazing preteen who still loves being outdoors and raising animals. We as a father/daughter team are looking to build a sustainable non certified organic farm. I recently received 3 sheep in payment for and odd job and looking to start with some pasture land and develop agriculture products in the spring.
water rights for ag and livestock is a must, on site well is a plus, electricity is a plus sloping land with good drainage away from annual flood planes. woodlands is a plus.
my family has been farming small lands in the willamette valley all of my life, I have experience with composting, soil development, land reclamation, equipment repair, planting, weeding, fencing. etc.
become a self-sustaining business providing healthy food to our local communities
In the long run I'd like to help other individuals start their farms and develop a community of farms that are all working towards the same big picture.
We reside in our camping trailer so other than a place to park no housing is needed.
I work within the Salem/Keizer school district where open communication and inclusivity is welcomed; this is just part of who I am, happy to include others and there ideas. Being a good listener and having a can do attitude helps a lot too.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
