Hello! My small family (myself – Katey, husband – Harry, and 2 young children) are in search of some land with housing. Maybe you need a farmhand on your existing farm or maybe you have a couple of acres with a home that is not being used. We are open to both situations (and possibly other situations too).
Do you need your fence repaired? Do you need help managing your animals? What about help growing produce? Someone to create a website for your farm? Need someone to sell your produce at the market? We’re your people! We can do it all!
We currently live in Eugene and want to stay in the area, but we can be as far as 45min-1 hr outside of Eugene. We spent 2020-2021 farming a homestead in Oklahoma. We moved back to Oregon in 2022 because this is where we plan to live here long term.
We still have much to learn, but our goal is to adopt regenerative practices on the land and grow a variety of fruits, veggies, herbs, and flowers. We would also raise chickens, bees, and potentially other animals for complete symbiosis on the farm (we are especially interested in getting a dairy cow, but goats and sheep are also on our list).
Our primary goal is to grow/raise our own food. Our secondary goal is to sell the excess and grow more if space allows!
For off farm income, Harry works at a local construction company and can do all sorts of handy things! We also own a soap company (HK & Sons – you can check out our website at hksonssoap.com). I sell our products at the Saturday Market, online, and in a few local shops. We would love to grow the herbs and botanicals we use in our soap and eventually distill oils to use in our products as well.
Harry built the cottage on our Oklahoma homestead by renovating an old shed into a livable home! He has experience with house building, electrical, plumbing, and general manual labor. He also spent his childhood and some adult years assisting at his uncle’s farm.
We are passionate about living the farm life and we realize that farming isn’t just a job – it’s a lifestyle and one you have to enjoy. We also strive to live an environmentally-friendly lifestyle and we are hard-working people.
We can pay $1800-$2000 maximum for rent. We are also interested in buying a home/land, so if lease-to-own is an option, we would be happy to discuss that as well.
Housing for my small family
We recently farmed on a small homestead in Oklahoma. We grew wheat, tomatoes, herbs, and other vegetables and flowers. We use no-till techniques and used hand tools for everything we did (including harvesting the wheat!). We also had a small flock of chickens that we raised for eggs. We have had a 600 square foot garden plot in a community garden in the past.
We want to learn more about farming and grow fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and how to raise different animals. We want to grow/raise enough for our family and sell any excess. If space allows, we would grow even more to sell at the Farmer's Market.
To make a living selling flowers, vegetables, fruits, eggs, our soap products, etc.
We would prefer housing of at least 2 bedrooms, but we can live in a smaller home for the right situation.
All are welcome on our farm! We enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life and we value their experience and worldview. We aim to create a sense of community and will treat everyone fairly regardless of their background.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
