Hello! My small family (myself – Katey, husband – Harry, and 2 young children) would like to lease land.
We currently live in Eugene. We spent 2020-2021 farming on a small homestead in Oklahoma. We moved back to Oregon in 2022 in order to find land and settle here long term.
We still have much to learn, but our goal is to adopt permaculture practices on the land and grow a variety of fruits, veggies, herbs, and flowers. We would also raise chickens, bees, and potentially other animals for complete symbiosis on the farm (goats, sheep, ducks, a dairy cow, etc). We have studied the methods of Eliot Coleman and Jean-Martin Fortier and will be implementing their techniques on any land we lease. We also make soap and we’d like to grow herbs and botanicals to use in our soap. (hksonssoap.com)
We would like enough space to have a garden and chickens. If there’s enough space for other animals, that would be a bonus, but certainly not a requirement.
My husband built the cottage we lived in on our Oklahoma homestead from scratch and almost completely by himself! He has experience with house building, electrical, plumbing, general manual labor. He currently works for a construction company and would be able to apply many skills to a farm. He also spent his childhood and some adult years assisting at his uncle’s farm.
We are passionate about living the farm life. We love this way of life and we realize that farming isn’t just a job – it’s a lifestyle and one you have to enjoy. We lived this life in Oklahoma and are eager to do it again. We strive to live an environmentally-friendly lifestyle and we are hard-working people.
Access to water is necessary. If there are no structures on the property, we would need permission to build them (to house tools and animals).
We recently farmed on our small homestead in Oklahoma. We grew wheat, tomatoes, herbs, and other vegetables and flowers. We did no-till and used hand tools for everything we did (including harvesting wheat!). We also had a small flock of chickens that we raised for eggs. We are currently gardening on a 600 square foot plot in the city.
We want to learn more about farming and growing a variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers and how to raise different animals. We plan to adopt permaculture practices on the land and implement Eliot Coleman's techniques.
To sell the things we grow on the land and turn a profit.
We would prefer housing of at least 2 bedrooms, but we can live offsite or in a smaller home for the right situation.
All are welcome on our farm! We enjoy connecting with people from all walks of life and we value their experience and worldview. We aim to create a sense of community and will treat everyone fairly regardless of their background.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
