Land Seeker Description

My partner Aayushi and I are beginning farmers excited to put down roots and build a small, ecologically minded farm in the greater Portland area. We recently moved to Happy Valley and are looking for 1–5 acres with good sunlight and reliable water where we can grow specialty crops and orchard fruits while caring for the land. I (Easton) recently finished my M.S. studying plant–microbe interactions in sustainable food systems, and Aayushi completed the Rogue Farm Corps apprenticeship, gaining hands-on experience in orchard management and direct marketing. We’re passionate about farming in a way that works with nature—building healthy soils, supporting biodiversity, and stewarding the land for the long term. Our hope is to find a place where we can invest time and care, build meaningful connections, and grow a farm that reflects our values of sustainability and community.

What features of the property are essential?

Water, electric, some structure for habitation or storage are all essentials.

Describe your farming experience

My partner Aayushi and I bring a complementary mix of practical, academic, and hands-on farming experience. I (Easton) have worked with diversified fruit and vegetable producers and managed greenhouse operations, gaining experience in crop production, soil health, and daily farm management. My M.S. research focused on plant–microbe interactions and sustainable food systems, and I have a strong passion for Integrated Pest Management (IPM), including developing scouting systems and data-driven approaches that protect both crops and beneficial organisms. Aayushi completed the Rogue Farm Corps apprenticeship and worked at Peachwood Orchard in Hood River, where she supported orchard management, harvest coordination, and direct sales through farmers markets and a drive-through system. She has additional experience working in a nursery and holds an academic background in agricultural economics and community development from The Ohio State University. Together, we have experience spanning propagation, crop care, IPM, postharvest handling, marketing, and farm planning, and we’re eager to continue growing these skills as we develop a farm of our own.
