I have recently moved to the Portland area from Savannah, GA where I worked on a ~1.25 acre sustainable no-till market garden. I worked at this farm for about 1 and a half years, but previously was a 20+ year veteran of the wine industry. Sustainable agriculture has become my passion and I seek access to land to farm here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I currently volunteer for a couple small charitable farms to keep access to land and to give back to the community.
Access to enough water to drip irrigate and have for a washing station. Some electricity to power washing implements (bubbler, spinner) as well as misc hand tools. A small tractor with a front-end loader would be nice, but is not necessary. Likewise a two-wheeled tractor would be nice, but using hand tools is perfectly acceptable.
I have come to realize that farming is one of the critical pillars that society stands on. I strive to care for the food that leaves the farm, but moreso the soil that provides the food. I am a no-till practitioner (though by no means ultra-strict) and believe that healthy soil structures can heal themselves.
For the first few years I would like to forge DTC consumers as well as partnering with restaurants to find fertile outlets.
I would like to obtain land to farm on, initially, but then I would like to expand into agri-tourism and perhaps even F&B eventually.
I am not in need of housing, currently.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
