We are a young married couple wanting to start our own farmstead.
Currently in McMinnville, we are looking to find a place to have livestock and grow a small garden until we get our permanent residence in a few years. Any area within an hour or so from Portland would be ideal. As much or as little land being over an acre that we could farm we’ll utilize. My husband is working on becoming a journeyman bricklayer and wants to build a very small home for us himself (that is, only if we are leasing to buy, of course). We are very willing to work and have the means to transform land into a prosperous, green space (so we aren’t picky). The livestock we’d like to have would be bees, sheep, a small milk cow, rabbits and some poultry such as chickens, turkeys, ducks and pigeons. We are flexible if certain livestock aren’t acceptable to you. We also have three cats that come and go as they please from outside to inside. We would love to help out with responsibilities on your land if need be; my husband works full time but I will just be at home maintaining the property, taking care of animals, etc. I hope you see us as a potential opportunity for someone to lease your land (or lease to buy) and be a help about.

Gardening experience, looking to acquire hands-on farming and animal husbandry experience to apply what we've learned from books and other farmers.
Have livestock, grow a garden, have a foundation for our future homestead and gain farming experience. Provide extra food to friends and family.
Using the land to its full potential to become self-reliant and self-sufficient. Getting back to basics and raising a family in a more traditional way and homeschooling.
We do not require housing provided by you, we do intend to live there if possible. Want to build a small masonry home if buying land. If not buying and only leasing, we would live in a canvas wall tent if need be.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
