Seeking land for Iceladic sheep operation

Land Seeker Description

I have several years under my belt of raising livestock, gardening and being a steward of the land. My sons and I have lived off grid for the last 6 months on a cooperative farm and are seeking to move to a more permanent situation in which to continue our vision of growing a nose to tail sheep operation. I shear and do my own slaughter and have begun to work at a butcher shop to be able to process my own animals as well. I tan the hides and even milk some of my sheep as well. Teaching classes has been a new venture and something I would like to continue on the land as well.

Optimally, I am seeking at least 10 acres with a home, but I can entertain the idea of building a platform for a yurt or RV to continue to live off grid. As I work in Hillsboro and share parenting duties with the boys father, so it would be necessary to be within an hour of that area. Currently living in Yamhill County and can provide references.

I am first and foremost a care taker of soil and the diversity of flora and local fauna and I strive to make my livestock work with and for the benefit of those things. I am incredibly driven and hard working.

A shared farm situation is something i would consider with very clear communication, boundaries and expectations.

Thanks for considering me.

What features of the property are essential?

Water and pasture for grazing. A shelter for livestock would be nice, but I can also build something temporary.

Describe your farming experience

Raised with livestock. Been growing my own food and raising animals for milk, meat and fiber for 10 years. This last year I have expanded to selling direct to customers.

Are you currently farming?

What are your short term goals for the land

to continue to expand my direct to consumer meat sales with an emphasis on nose to tail and all products in between.

What are your long term goals

Workshop and onsite opportunities to teach others the processes of keeping animals, rotating pastures, building systems that benefit the soil and nutrition of livestock. I would like to start my own mobile slaughter unit and custom butchery focusing on sheep.

Describe your housing needs

house would be preferable. Otherwise space for an RV, or to build a platform for a yurt. Experienced with off grid, solar.
