Hello-
For the past 2 seasons, I have leased land in the Portland area. First with larger acreage outside Sandy, lots of irrigation work, deer pressure, and learning. This past season on a 1/3 acre Micro-farm in SW Pdx which was dialed in and very productive mixed veggie production.
I am looking for a new location next year. Ideally, there is housing onsite and an opportunity to lease-to-own or purchase. I am also open to just leasing the land if the location and setup are right.
My plan is to focus more on perennial crops in the years ahead– berries/fruit and perennial fruit/berry nursery stock. The plan is to start relatively small with the initial establishment of the nursery stock in the first 2 years and increasing sales from year 3-5. Fruit sales and production will be dependent on the farm and whether or not fruit trees have already been established. If fruit trees have been established, I look forward to discussing a fair agreement for sales with the current owners. If fruit trees have not yet been established, I am more interested in a lease-to-own or purchase opportunity if I am to establish fruit trees, with sales dependent on the timeline of the production of fruit. If that is not an option this upcoming season, I could still be interested in an alternative plan for a season-by-season lease where I would go back to mixed veggie production.
I still consider myself a beginning farmer, so I am seeking a place I can continue learning / growing. Community is very important to me. I support open communication and collaboration as an essential tool of good business.
Cheers,
Brett

I would like to grow some nursery stock over the next number of years, get some perennial berries in the ground, and maintain / build some orchard space to sell retail berries/fruit and perennial fruit/berry nursery stock. I already have a small team of friends who work with food hub/distribution / sell at markets who will provide the basis of the customer-facing retail sales. Depending on the location and context of where I land, I plan to build a website for online ordering / pickup as well. The plan is to start relatively small with the initial establishment of the nursery stock in the first 2 years and increasing sales from year 3-5.

Long term I would like to raise some future children on the farm / with access to the farm.
I currently have stable housing in Portland, Oregon.
I live with my partner here. We have 2 dogs / 2 cats. We are open to moving to live onsite a new farm location.
I will continue building relationships from a place of a safe and welcoming environment with people of diverse background on the land in my community. I will continue sharing some of my yields with those of all backgrounds and diverse background in the community.
