My husband and I are Organic farmers based in Madras, Oregon. We own an 86 acre farm and manage 140 additional acres here in Madras, raising Organic hays, grains, vegetables, pigs and a small herd of cattle. Demand for our meats continues to grow and we are looking for a larger land base to holistically manage and graze our cattle on. We are thoughtful and experienced farmers, dedicated land stewards, young and eager to provide more food for our region. Open to a shorter term lease, or for the right property a lease to own or owners terms purchase. Happy to provide references of the other land owners we have leased from over the years, we always leave a property in better shape than when we first arrive, and honor our agreements. Furthermore if a longer term lease becomes available, I am interested in tying in this future property with the Savory Institute’s EOV (Ecological Outcome Varification) program of which I am now a part of, which would allow us to monitor the ecological outcomes and improvements of the soil and whole ecosystem through our grazing and management practices. Thank you for your consideration.

Water for animals, irrigation for hay ground would be a plus. Electricity. Grasslands to graze.
Chris my husband ran Juniper Jungle Farm east of Bend for 7 years. A first generation farmer, he started small growing vegetables and poultry for the Bend farmers markets and CSA. The contracts and opportunities for his farm continued to grow year after year and that pushed us to find a larger parcel of ground to farm in Madras. Our shift from a small market style farm to a larger wholesale farm was intentional, allowing us to grow staple crops and provide more organic and local food for our community.
Short term we plan to graze a cattle herd on this land, using holistic management practices, and monitor the ecological outcomes of such management practices. If there was hay ground to irrigate and pull hay off of, we would also be interested in haying the ground.
Long term, we would like to continue our grazing and ecological monitoring over 10+ years. If the property is ripe for conservation projects or wetlands restoration, we would invest in such projects. If the right property and opportunity came along, we would consider agritourism opportunities, or educational programs for kids / teens interested in Agriculture.
Potentially permission to park a trailer for a foreman to be on site day to day. If there was a house/ living space for an employee to live on site that would be great. We have a home on our Farm in Madras and hope to find a property to lease close enough to manage while living on our farm.
To contact a land seeker, you must first create a land listing and have it approved by our staff. Thank you.
