Seeking farm stay/lease or work trade in surrounding PDX and Clackamas area

Land Seeker Description

Couple looking for .5 to 1 acre of land minimum to rent, work trade or both by November 2022. Hoping to be in surrounding area of Portland up to 45minutes.

Combined experience in farming, gardening and herbalism. Hope to grow all the above for future income. Experienced in humane animal care and rescue.

Need parking space for one farmhouse style tiny house on wheels and possible future moveable container home. (Container home space could be substituted for on-site rental unit). Tiny Luna is a bit small for two people.  We can set the parking spaces up.

We currently live on a friend’s organic farm in Canby and maintain a large garden and chickens as well as yard work on property. References are available upon request. References  are Friends of Farmers land owners and our agreement is nearing it’s end!

What features of the property are essential?

Parking space for one tiny house on wheels with at least water connection (possible to make house off grid). Either small rental unit or parking space for future small container home as well. Tiny Luna is too small for two people.

Describe your farming experience

We have combined experience in backyard gardening and actual farming. Both of us grew up in rural farming communities. We have combined work as both a herbalist and horticulturist.

Are you currently farming?

What are your short term goals for the land

We would like a few years at the same spot to focus on our main products for farmers markets and to save money to buy our own farm! We are working class people and need help getting to our dreams of being part of the local farming community.

What are your long term goals

We would like to buy a minimum of 2 to 6 acres for our own regenerative farm. We would like to have our income come from farm crops, herbs and flowers. I would also like to have a small farm animal rescue. Possible bee keep.

Describe your housing needs

Need parking space and RV hook ups for farmhouse style THOW. Possible parking for tiny container home as well. Tiny house is too small for two people.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

Wonderful question! It is very important to me to create safe places for the land, animals and people. I am an inclusive and welcoming person. I have worked with herbal education and sales as well as social justice and advocacy work for over 15 years and I’m still learning. Active listening, reflection and consensus decision making is part of my culture. I identify as a white, cis gender female that has experienced generational poverty and low income status. I acknowledge my white privilege in all of this and want BIPOC seekers to be considered first. White people can step aside, no matter what income level, which is a way of creating space for our BIPOC community.
