Seeking Farm Land to Lease or rent! Within one hour of Eugene.

Land Seeker Description

I am a very motivated father with three sons, one slightly disabled.  Most important a lifetime of farming experience looking to get back on some land to work, after a short time in Eugene.  I have lived the last year in Eugene to be close to some services for my son but no longer need to be tied here.  After being intimately introduced to the disabled community, which now I work with a few disabled adults getting them outside in nature, I have realized the desire they have to work with their hands and be part of something real.  This model is being practiced with focused intention in an Organization called Camphill Communities.  At this time I am NOT looking to actually start a community. But foremost I am looking to farm commercially.    Mainly it would be me and my partner and sons farming and maintaining.    I am a well rounded, Kind, hardworking person, with a broad range of experiences.  I like to keep it simple, and quality matters.  I would love to hear from any prospects!

What features of the property are essential?

Water, some pasture and garden space.

Describe your farming experience

I grew up in rural Wisconsin and worked on a few dairy's growing up. I had a large vegetable garden in southern Oregon and sold at a few Markets. I assisted in operations at a large biodynamic farm in Colorado. Most recently managed a small dairy and CSA near Yoncalla Oregon. There we raised meat chickens, layers, hogs, and had a heard of about 40 cattle. And a large garden.

Are you currently farming?

What are your short term goals for the land

To get a small mixed farm operating. I am also willing to help in an existing operation. With the intention of bringing food to market.

What are your long term goals

To have a functioning small farm or to be fully integrated in one. Bringing food to market. I also work with alter-abled (disabled) individuals. The dream is to have a setting where my 'friends' can join in the activities of raising food and farm life in general. I have targeted experience and funding for this vision.

Describe your housing needs

Enough for a small family of three. I also have a camping trailer that could work for a while. Otherwise I would not use it. I have considered purchasing a yurt as well. An existing farm house would be ideal of course.

What will you do as a farmer to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone on your farm and in your community?

Just be myself, I am a community minded person. I like peace and quiet but also to converse with others.
