My spouse and I (mid-twenties) are looking for a space (1-5 acres) near Portland to start a small and sustainable livestock-based CSA and farmers market business that is also able to provide parking for an RV or motorhome.
We would like to start with meat rabbits and laying hens, and eventually expand to dairy goats, poultry, and maybe a fiber animal such as alpacas or llamas.
In addition to selling the eggs, meat, and future diary products, we would also like to provide quality manure and compost for other small scale farmers and gardeners.
Good water source and a sunny spot for pasture
We have almost a decade of farming and gardening experience and have taken several classes on organic farming practices. We have some experience with chickens.
Start a 10-15 member meat rabbit and chicken eggs CSA within the first year and scale up to 20-25 members plus farmers markets over the course of the following 2-3 years before eventually adding dairy goats and fiber animals into the mix. We'd also like to sell the manure and compost from the animals to other small farms and gardeners.
Providing sustainable and high quality meats, eggs, dairy, wool, and manure to the Portland area and surrounding communities.
A place to park an RV or motorhome is preferred. Utilities hookups not necessary, but would be appreciated. We are willing to haul water and use solar/generators if needed. A small home or other housing accommodations would work too, we are flexible.
We are anti-racist and want to foster a progressive and welcoming environment for all farmers, gardeners, and lovers of high quality local food products.
