My family is looking for a way to move outside of the city to be able to have access to farm land and farming mentorship opportunities. I have a ten month old son, and husband. I grew up on a Dairy farm and have worked on a variety of farms over my lifetime, from a u-pick strawberry farm for several years to organic vegetable farms including most recently at a farm outside of Oregon City. My husband works full time in Hillsboro and I stay at home with our son. I am looking for an opportunity where I could take care of an orchard or farm plot during the week while I am with my son and then take on more labor intensive work on the weekends when my husband can also get involved with the chores. I would like a mentorship arrangement where I could learn from an experienced farmer how their operation works and work towards taking over more and more responsibility as I learn the ropes. We are seeking a way to live on the farm property. I would like to maintain a large garden for food for our family and to share.
on-site sewer, electricity, running water
I grew up helping on my families dairy farm in Minnesota, I worked for several years at a u-pick strawberry farm, I have volunteered at various organic vegetable farms in Minnesota, Michigan and most recently outside of Oregon City.
My short term plans are to learn the ins and outs of the farming operation through a mentorship where I gradually take over increasing responsibilities.
I would like to take on the operation of the farm with my family and manage/buy the land if the opportunity arises. I would like to run the farm as a family and teach our children how to farm as they grow up around the farm.
We need basic accomodations with running water and sewer.
